Who we are

We are a father-and-son duo passionate about classic and collectable cars. Since late 2022, we’ve been running our own online car auction business — Fine Car Company — and now offer our expertise through Mitchell’s Collectors Car Consultancy. Our mission is to help sellers achieve the very best outcome when consigning their high-profile cars with the world’s leading auction houses.

So why use us instead of going direct to the auction house? The answer is simple: we get you a better deal. With decades of industry experience, we know exactly what a fair agreement looks like — and what can be negotiated. Because of our longstanding relationships with the major houses, we can often secure terms you won’t get on your own, such as reduced commission or even a 0% seller’s premium (depending on the car and circumstances).

Beyond negotiation, we also manage the entire process for you — from liaising with auction houses, handling paperwork, and organising logistics, to chasing deadlines and answering any questions you may have along the way. We act as your advocate, making the process smooth, stress-free, and fully transparent.

Our results speak for themselves. Recently, we helped broker the sale of the iconic Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift RX-7, which achieved over $1.2 million at Bonhams’ Goodwood Festival of Speed auction in July 2025 — far exceeding its £250,000–350,000 estimate. You can read more about this record-breaking sale in Car and Driver.

We’re not limited to the UK either. Thanks to our global network, we can consign cars into the most prestigious international auctions, including RM Sotheby’s world-renowned Pebble Beach sale, where collectors from across the globe compete for the finest vehicles.

And best of all — our service is completely free to you. We are paid by the auction houses, not the seller.

If you’re considering selling your car, we’d be delighted to have a conversation about how we can help you secure the best deal and the smoothest experience possible.

    Brendan Mitchell

Brendan is a highly experienced classic car auctioneer with over 40 years in the industry. His career began at Sotheby’s, where he spent three decades overseeing the operational aspects of major sales across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia in the art, luxury, and automotive sectors.

During his tenure, Brendan was involved in some of Sotheby’s most high-profile and prestigious events, including the legendary sales at Gleneagles, Castle Howard, and the celebrated David Bowie Collection. His expertise and attention to detail have earned him a reputation for providing transparent, trustworthy guidance — whether clients are buying or selling.

Brendan has also witnessed some of the auction world’s most memorable moments. He was working in the saleroom in 2018 when Banksy’s Girl with Balloon famously shredded itself immediately after the hammer fell. A more light-hearted claim to fame came in 1996, when Brendan featured in the auction scene of the Only Fools & Horses finale, where the Trotters finally became millionaires after selling their antique watch for £6.2 million.

At Mitchell’s Classic Car Consultancy, Brendan brings unmatched industry knowledge, decades of auction experience, and a true passion for classic cars to every client relationship. His goal is simple: to make the auction process as smooth, transparent, and rewarding as possible.

    Joe Mitchell

Joe is an application developer with a lifelong passion for both cars and technology. After graduating in 2017 with a 2:1 BSc in Computer Science from the prestigious University of Sussex, he joined Vodafone Group, where he has worked since 2018.

In 2022, Joe’s innovative use of Artificial Intelligence to identify and decommission underutilised infrastructure — significantly reducing Vodafone’s carbon footprint — earned him the Hero of Vodafone Award, presented by then-CEO Nick Read.

Alongside his career in technology, Joe ventured into entrepreneurship in November 2022, becoming co-owner of Fine Car Co, an online car auction platform he founded with his father, Brendan. Together, they’ve also brought their expertise to the live auction stage, successfully hosting three sales to date — two classic car auctions and one automobilia auction — at prestigious venues such as Pangbourne College Classic Car Show 2024 and Podium Place in Newbury.

At Mitchell’s Classic Car Consultancy, Joe brings his sharp technical expertise, entrepreneurial drive, and deep love for collectable cars to help connect clients with the right buyers and auction opportunities.
